Hi, We're Coach Melinda Murray & Jennifer Shelby Miller

We’re bringing together two of the most seasoned pickleball coaches in San Diego for a two day exclusive camp, and you have a front-row seat.

Coach Melinda Murray on court Coach #01

Hi, I’m Coach Melinda Murray – Your Guide To The Next Level

I’m a PPR-Certified Pickleball Professional who discovered pickleball in 2020 and quickly progressed to competing nationally at the 5.0 level. By 2023, I was competing in the 5.0 50+ division, earning a bronze medal that year and a silver the following year. Now, I’m training toward my goal of winning National Gold in 2026.

But my competitive experience is only part of what I bring to coaching. My focus is helping intermediate women like yourself build the correct shot mechanics, smart strategic positioning, and genuine competitive confidence that makes pickleball one of the most rewarding pursuits of their lives… especially women in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond.

My Credentials

  • 4.6 DUPR Rating
  • National Silver Medalist, 5.0 50+ Division (2024)
  • National Bronze Medalist, 5.0 50+ Division (2023)
  • 5+ years of competitive playing and coaching experience
  • Active regional competitor across San Diego, Spring Valley, Chula Vista, and beyond
Coach Jennifer Shelby Miller Coach #02

And I’m Coach Jennifer Shelby Miller – Your Guide To Player Smarter

I’m also a PPR Certified Instructor who discovered pickleball almost by accident, and I’ve played nearly every day since. What I love about this sport is the mix of strategy, athleticism, and community, which shapes everything I teach.

Today I coach players of every level through clinics, live-ball sessions, and group instruction throughout North County San Diego, and I’m bringing that same direct, encouraging style to both days of this camp.

My Credentials

  • 5.0-level tournament player with an active competitive record
  • Pickleball Pro in San Diego, CA
  • 200+ private and group lessons taught to players of all levels and ages.
  • PPR Certified Level 2 Coach
  • 500+ Lessons & Clinics Coached, helping players build confidence, sharpen their skills, and play smarter on the court

Our Approach

Two coaches, one shared belief: play smart, not hard.

Every intermediate woman who trains with us gets coaching built around her game. We identify what’s holding her back, whether it’s movement, positioning, technique, or decision-making, and give her the right adjustment to start seeing improvement immediately.

So whether you want to improve your fitness, develop your skills, compete in tournaments, improve your DUPR, or simply have more fun on the court…we’ll help you play smarter over harder, move more efficiently, and build confidence and consistency without feeling like you have to rely on power to win.

Women who train with us experience complete game transformations.

They win through intelligent positioning and shot selection, not exhausting power.

They understand the mental game and know what to do when the point doesn’t go according to plan.

They stop second-guessing their shots and start making confident decisions in real-game situations.

They play multiple times a week with more energy, better movement, and greater consistency.

They build lasting friendships while improving their game together.

The Two Days

Day 1 builds it. Day 2 tests it.

Building the Foundation

Meet your new pickleball crew

This isn’t a cold introduction. Within the first few minutes, you’ll know everyone’s names, where they play, and what they’re working on. You’ll exchange phone numbers right away, because connections matter.

  • Dynamic warm-up built around joint care and mobility, not just intensity

Focus: the two shots that set up every point

  • Serve placement and depth — options that don’t rely on pace
  • Principles: in, deep, and toward the non-dominant side
  • Return drill: getting to a balanced, ready spot instead of racing forward

Focus: the shot that defines your rating

  • Third shot drop mechanics with repeated target practice
  • When to drop vs. when to drive at the intermediate level
  • Decision-making framework: reading the return before you swing
10:40 Break 10 min

Focus: taking control at the net without overreaching

  • High volley attack: forehand and backhand volleys repeatedly at match pace
  • Put away high balls with confidence and consistency
  • Low volleys & touch: keep balls low, eliminate pop-ups that cost points
  • Half-volley control back into the kitchen
  • Transition volleys: low to high sequences

Focus: controlling the point from the NVZ

  • Straight-on and diagonal dinking with directional intent
  • Moving opponents and creating openings
  • Games: Longest Rally Challenge and a dink placement contest
12:10 Lunch — a full hour to rest, refuel, and talk shop with your new group 1 hr

Focus: court coverage that doesn’t wear you out

  • Efficient split-step and recovery patterns
  • Positioning that closes off angles before you have to sprint for them

Focus: neutralizing pace without a scramble

  • Reset shots against hard-driven balls
  • Turning defense back into a neutral, winnable point

Focus: putting it all together under real conditions

  • Rotating games with both coaches on court giving real-time corrections
  • Coach feedback on shot selection, court positioning, and point construction
  • What to carry into Day 2
  • Quick recap of what clicked today
  • Group photo + exchange of contacts
Tuesday, Sep 29

Strategy & Match Toughness

Easing back in after Day 1

Focus: playing to a plan instead of just playing it safe

  • Placement to expose a weaker side or force a shorter return
  • Reading the returner’s tendencies before you choose a serve

Focus: the moment that costs the most points

  • Moving from baseline to kitchen with balance intact
  • Half-volley to overhead sequencing under pressure
10:45 Break 10 min

Focus: staying patient when the point drags on

  • Point construction at the kitchen line — building an opening instead of forcing one
  • Adding variety and spin without losing control

Focus: extra tools for the moments your first plan doesn’t work

  • Offensive vs. defensive lobs — reading the situation and committing
  • Recovering court position immediately after
12:15 Lunch — rest and reset for the afternoon 1 hr

Focus: playing as a team, not two individuals

  • Court coverage agreements and simple in-point calls
  • Recognizing and covering a partner’s weaker side

Focus: everything from both days, tested in real points

  • Rotating match play, coaches on every court
  • Individual corrections on shot selection, positioning, and pacing yourself over a full game

A short one-on-one note from your coaches on what to work on next.

Group photo and a final exchange of contacts with your new playing group.

Our Philosophy

Why We're Obsessed
With Drilling

Most intermediate camps spend too much time talking and not enough time executing.

We’re different.

Here’s our philosophy: Drilling = Transformation

You don’t get better by just listening to lectures about different types of shots in pickleball.

You get better by hitting serves, third shot drops, volleys, and dinks repeatedly while two coaches who are still competing at the national level watch and guide your reps, identifying not just what’s going wrong but exactly why, and delivering the specific correction that fixes it permanently.

And here’s the truth about why we’re obsessed with drilling:

Because let’s be honest, we all love that moment when we implement something new and it actually WORKS, don’t we?

That moment when you adjust your positioning, and suddenly your shots land exactly where you want it, every time.

That rush when you hit serves in a row to the same spot.

That feeling when your opponent fires a fast ball at you, and you put it away cleanly.

You don’t have to wait weeks to see if the coaching worked. You see it immediately. Right there on the court.

That’s why drilling is the heartbeat of this camp.

Not because we think it’s good for you (though it is), but because it’s incredibly satisfying to watch a woman go from “I keep making that mistake” to “I just fixed it!” across two focused days.

Player Stories

See why 98% of our campers recommend this camp.

Remember The Last Time You Walked Off The Court Frustrated?

You know that moment when you replay the match in your head…

…thinking about all the shots you should have made?

…watching players you know you should beat walk away with the win?

…feeling that gap between the player you are and the player you know you could be?

That feeling ends on September 29.

Because by the time you walk off the court after two days of having the time of your life with us, you won’t just feel like you had a great camp; you’ll feel like you’ve changed the way you play.

Your body will move more efficiently.

Your mind will read the game differently.

And the next time you step on the court with your regular partners, they’ll notice something has shifted.

You’re playing smarter, moving better, and trusting your game more.

IMAGINE THIS: It's Thursday, October 1 (Two Days After The Camp)

You walk onto your regular court for your weekly game.

As soon as you start warming up, your playing partners stop and stare.

“What happened to you?”

Your serves are landing deep and consistent, no more shanks, no more pop-ups.

When they return, you’re already reading where the ball is going.

Your third-shot drop is pulling them out of position.

At the kitchen line, you’re controlling rallies with patience and precision they’ve never seen from you before.

By the third game, they’re asking what you did. By the fifth game, they’re asking where you learned it. By the time you leave, they’re asking if you can teach them.

That’s the difference between who you are right now and who you’ll be after the camp.

And it all starts the moment you register, because the transformation begins before you even arrive.

What You'll Actually Walk Away With (The Real Outcomes)

You'll Control Rallies Without Wearing Yourself Out

We’ll teach you how to control rallies through intelligent positioning and shot selection, not power. This is especially important for us 50+ players: You’ll learn to play smarter, not harder.

01

You'll Meet Your New Playing Crew (And Stay Connected For Life)

We’ll connect you with other passionate women at your exact skill level. You’ll exchange numbers, join the Obsessed Pickleballers Community together, and stay permanently connected with every woman you meet.

02

You'll Know Exactly What To Do In Every Situation

We’ll eliminate the hesitation that’s been costing you points. Should you drive or drop? Your body knows. When do you move to the kitchen? You’re already moving. How do you handle the lob? You’re acting before you’ve finished thinking about it.

03

You'll Stop Making The Same Mistakes That Have Been Holding You Back

We’ll help you identify the technical flaws that are quietly limiting your game. Once we show you exactly how to fix them, the shots that used to frustrate you become reliable strengths.

04

Most players spend years battling the same weaknesses. You'll correct yours across two focused days.

That forehand that used to sail long? Now landing deep with topspin.

The backhand you avoided? Now a dependable go-to shot.

The serve that made you nervous? Now setting up points in your favor.

You’ll Reignite The Passion You Had When You First Discovered This Game. Between us, we’ve coached at the collegiate level, competed nationally, and helped women rebuild their confidence again and again.

On September 28 and 29, we’re going to show you what that feels like for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level is this camp for?

This camp is designed specifically for intermediate women players at the 3.0-3.5 level. Every drill, every explanation, and every piece of coaching across both days is calibrated for women who understand the basics and are ready to break through to the next level.

Absolutely! You don’t need a DUPR rating. The DUPR range (3.0-3.5) is simply to help you understand who this camp is designed for. If you consider yourself an intermediate player who’s comfortable with basic strokes and ready to improve, you’re in the right place.

Yes! Melinda and Jennifer have coached players at every level and know exactly how to challenge every woman appropriately throughout both days. No one is ever left behind or overwhelmed.

Yes. This is a women’s-only camp by design. Every drill partner, every conversation, and every connection you make here will be with women who are on the same journey. That environment matters, and it makes both days better.

No. Pace and intensity are adjusted throughout, and the lunch break each day is a real hour to rest, not a quick bite between drills. The camp is designed with recovery in mind.

The camp is built as a single two-day arc: Day 1 lays the mechanics that Day 2’s strategy work depends on. We strongly recommend attending both days to get the full transformation.

Just bring your paddle, court shoes, athletic wear, protective eyewear (optional), water, some snacks, and a towel.

Definitely. With two certified coaches on court across both days and a small group, you’ll receive plenty of personalized feedback and individual attention throughout the camp. Every correction is grounded in what’s currently working at the 5.0 level, not generic tips that may or may not apply to you.

We understand that life happens, and we always aim to be as fair and flexible as possible.
