In 2015 I walked onto a local court at lunch just to watch a game I'd heard about. An elderly gentleman came over, held out a spare paddle, and said: “There is no watching.”
That was it. I was hooked from my very first point. More than a decade later, that same immediate welcome is exactly what I bring to every player I coach — especially players in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.
When you're new, there's more to learn than how to hit the ball. You want to know where to stand, when to move, how to serve, what grip to use, and what you're actually supposed to do once the point starts.
So that's what I teach. We'll make sense of the rules, get your serve and grip working, and sort out positioning in a way that protects your body.
Pickleball can become the reason you get out of the house, meet new friends, laugh between points, and find a regular group.
