That’s a surprise and you’ll get that after the camp

Hi, I'm Coach Liam Krauss – Your Guide To Building The Right Pickleball Foundation

I specialize in teaching pickleball to players 50 and over who are just getting started. My goal is simple: help beginners feel comfortable, confident, and excited every time they step onto the court.

When you’re new to pickleball, there’s more to learn than just how to hit the ball…

You want to know where to stand, when to move, how to serve, what grip to use, and what you’re actually supposed to do once the point starts.

You want to stop second-guessing yourself and start feeling like you belong out there.

My Credentials:

PPR Certified Pickleball Coach

35+ tournament medals including gold in Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles (Spain), undefeated Singles gold (France), and play at the USA Pickleball National Championships

4.5+ competitive tournament player across local, national, and international divisions

International competitive experience — tournaments in Ireland, France, Spain, and Japan

My approach is simple: teach you how to actually play, not just how to hit a ball.

We’ll make sense of the rules, get your serve and grip working, show you where to stand and when to move, and work on the things that will make you feel more confident every time you step onto the court.

But honestly, that’s only the beginning.

Because pickleball can become so much more than a game.

It can be the reason you get out of the house on a Tuesday morning. The place where you meet new friends, laugh between points, find a regular group to play with, and suddenly have a whole new part of your social life.

I’ve seen it happen again and again…and I’ve experienced it myself. Some of the best friendships I’ve made have come from pickleball.

That’s what I want for you.

Nobody here knows what they’re doing yet

  • Coach and participant introductions — everyone is starting at the same place
  • Quick camp overview: what the four hours will look like, including our one break
  • Equipment basics: How to hold the paddle, what the ball does, what the court lines mean, including introduction to paddles and pickleballs themselves.
  • Gentle dynamic warm-up: light movement, arm circles, staying loose
  • Safety first: proper warm-up, court awareness, staying hydrated, and pacing yourself over a longer session

II. Grip & Paddle Control (20 minutes)

  • Continental grip instruction — the one grip that works for everything
  • Hand positioning and simple paddle control basics
  • Ready position and the split step

Individual tap drill: Each player taps the ball on their own paddle to build comfort with the equipment before adding a partner
Partner tap rally: Getting a feel for the ball on your paddle with another player

III. Footwork & Movement (20 minutes)

Moving well matters more than moving fast

  • Why good positioning beats speed — smart footwork over sprinting
  • Split step timing and small adjustment steps
  • Side shuffles and staying balanced near the kitchen line
  • Working with what your body does best today — no shot requires a sprint

The heart of pickleball

  • What a dink is and why the whole game runs through it
  • Soft touch technique that anyone can learn on day one

IX. Extended Guided Play (15 minutes)
